Tyréns to develop a masterplan for flagship European city regeneration project at Port of Cork Company site in Ireland.
Tyréns, together with Reddy Architecture & Urbanism, has been commissioned by the Port of Cork Company to develop a masterplan for the 61.5 ha Tivoli waterfront site in Cork City.
The project was launched in Cork on 28th January 2019 with a presentation to Cork City Council and Chamber of Commerce representatives. Members of the Irish Strategic Infrastructure Fund and RIAI will be in attendance.
The Port of Cork Company is a commercial semi-state entity and the key seaport in the south of Ireland. The Port is currently undertaking works on the Cork Container Terminal in Ringaskiddy with the aim of relocating operations from the Tivoli site fully by 2025, releasing the site for mixed-use urban development.
The Tivoli site presents an opportunity for Ireland’s second largest city to create a vibrant district on the River Lee within walking distance of the city centre and new transport hubs, bringing brownfield land into civic use, while setting a benchmark for sustainable regeneration.
Tyréns brings to the project its experience at Hammarby Sjöstad and Royal Seaport, Sweden and Tallinn Port Masterplan, Estonia, with a strong inter-disciplinary design and consultancy team.
Savills has been appointed as real estate and property consultant.
The Tivoli Masterplan will seek to enhance the waterfront, introducing a new residential development, high quality public spaces, employment, cultural activities and upgraded transport and green infrastructure.
